Our blackout tents cut light and visual clutter right down, so a child who is overwhelmed has somewhere safe and low-stimulation to calm down and refocus. Choose a bed canopy that stays over the mattress for sleep, or a pop-up that folds into its carry bag and travels to school, the car or a grandparent’s house.

Choosing a blackout tent

The questions we get asked most.

Bed canopy or pop-up?

A canopy sits over the mattress and stays up — it is for sleep. A pop-up folds into a bag and goes on the floor, at school or in the car — it is for regulating during the day.

How dark do they get?

The pop-up tents are the darkest, at about 95% blackout once the door is zipped. The bed canopies use a dense-weave pongee fabric that blocks more than 75% of ambient light: dark enough for streetlights and an early sunrise.

Is it breathable?

Yes. The fabric is airy enough to keep ventilation with the tent fully closed, which is what separates these from throwing a blanket over the bed.

Does it damage the room?

No drilling, no brackets, nothing screwed into a wall. The canopies stand on their own frame over the mattress and come down in minutes if you change your mind.
